Islay Stormscape Watercolour on archival cotton paper 11x 30 inches
Islay Stormscape was inspired by the dramatic weather and shifting light I experienced on the Isle of Islay. Dark clouds gather over the distant hills while light breaks through onto the water and wet shore, capturing that wonderful moment when a storm seems to be passing but the landscape is still full of movement.
What stayed with me most on Islay was how quickly everything changed — rain, sunlight, sea and sky constantly transforming the view. I wanted this painting to hold onto that feeling of standing on a wide west coast beach, watching the weather move across the landscape.
A piece for anyone who loves Scotland’s islands, dramatic skies and the untamed beauty of the coast.
✨ Original painting by Scottish artist Susan McMillan
🌊 Inspired by the changing weather and light of the Isle of Islay
🏔️ A celebration of Scotland’s wild west coast
🌿 Evokes atmosphere, space and the feeling of being beside the sea
